Max Payne 3 Collector's Edition

Rockstar’s continuation of its interactive graphic-novel-style cop drama, Max Payne, may still be several months away, but already the publisher has announced its plans for how it will take the world by storm via the game’s collector’s edition. Apparently, staff at Rockstar haven’t had a chance to listen to our recent episode of PodBytes, where we discuss in-depth the ups and downs of collector’s editions selling on the strength of a displayable bust or statue (or maybe they have, and just don’t care?). Either way, the CE will come packed with several in- and out-of-game extras.

First and foremost is a 10-inch tall statuette of Max himself, in mid-stride, clutching his twin semi-automatics. Also included will be several art prints, the official soundtrack, and a copper- and brass-plated iron key chain shaped like – wait for it – a bullet, harkening back to a simpler era when the concept of “bullet time” was still novel. On the digital front, the package will include two special DLC packs exclusive to the CE: the Classic Multiplayer Character Pack with eight characters from the first two games; and the Disorderly Conduct Multiplayer Weapons Pack, which is stuffed full of weapons like the Hammerhead Auto Shotgun and the Molotov cocktail.

Finally, while the game is currently not expected prior to March of 2012, preorders can be placed until January 15 for the 360, PS3 and PC versions of the game.
