Last month, G4 hosted the ‘Epictober Film Festival’, a celebration of professionally made gritty and violent movies with video game themes and inspirations. In case you missed it, here is one of the three movies premiered at the event, Drew Daywalt’s Kart Driver.
Ostensibly a Mario-themed reimagining of the classic Taxi Driver, this short film – which, at over eight minutes, isn’t all that short! – features Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong and cameos by other favorites of the Mushroom Kingdom. It’s what the Italian plumber’s classic quest ultimately amounts to: nothin’ but a whole lotta heartache with the women in his life who continuously seem to let themselves be captured and abducted.
